TRAININGS AND WORKSHOPS
I. Quality Assurance in Chemical Analysis

A three-day training workshop and lecture on quality protocols in chemical analysis. The use of blanks, control samples and reference materials are emphasized to determine the precision and accuracy of the analysis. Participants will be taught how to make and use a quality control chart to maintain the quality standard of the analysis. Exercises will focus on gravimetric, titrimetric, chromatographic and spectrophotometric analysis.
II. Validation of Chemical Methods of Analysis
A three-day training workshop and lecture on how to validate test methods and how to establish the performance and characteristics of the method. Participants will be taught on how to determine linearity, limit of detection, accuracy, and precision of the method. Exercises will focus on gravimetric, titrimetric, spectrophotometric, chromatographic, mass spectrometric and electrometric analysis.
III. Seminar/Workshop on Chemical Safety and Chemical Waste Management
A two-day seminar and workshop on chemical safety and chemical waste management. This activity is composed of lectures and workshops to teach participants the protocols for chemical safety and chemical waste management in the laboratory. Handling of regulated and controlled, toxic and hazardous chemicals in compliance with the requirements of RA 6969 (Toxic Substances and Hazardous and Nuclear Waste Control Act of 1990) as enforced by the EMB, RA 9516 (Act Codifying the Laws on Illegal/Unlawful Possession, Manufacture, Dealing In, Acquisition or Disposition of Firearms, Ammunition or Explosives or Instruments Used in the Manufacture of Firearms, Ammunition or Explosives, and Imposing Stiffer Penalties for Certain Violations Thereof, and for Other Relevant Purposes) by the PNP and RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) by the PDEA will be discussed. There will also be workshops on how to acquire and renew licenses and permits for the use of controlled/precursor chemicals, submission of consumption reports of chemicals, SMRs and other related documents to the aforementioned regulatory agencies.
